Description

Description

The volume presents Sotiris Dimitriou as a classical author of modern Greek literature. Classical in the sense, above all, of a pure literature that sensitively and knowledgeably touches on human matters without being dependent on the times.

His distinctive prose world, without rejecting realism, is a divergent one. Linguistically, thematically, and narratively, it deviates from the norms, with his oblique literary perspective illuminating the core of human passions and intensely turning to the dark and paradoxical aspects of the human existence adventure.

Marginalized heroes, weak and common people, workers, women, provincials, immigrants, fugitives, physically disabled, mentally disturbed, eccentric and outcast individuals are approached by the author with love and understanding.

Aigokeros Publications continues the new series entitled “West of Pindus. Writings on Authors.” The series features monographic tributes to authors who have a genealogical connection with the geographical region defined to the east by the western slope of Pindus, to the north by the farthest borders of Epirus, to the south by Mesolongi, and to the west by the islands of the Ionian Sea directly opposite.

The main axis of the tribute volumes is the focus on the texts themselves. It is composed of two parts: a. New interpretive approaches to texts that have been extensively highlighted. However, it is proposed to view them through new perspectives; b. Interpretive approaches to literary works that have not been sufficiently highlighted or have escaped research interest.

The first book of the series is published by Aigokeros Editions and is titled “Christophoros Milionis. New interpretive approaches to his prose,” edited by Evangelos Avdikos.
