What permeates their re-emergence are old experiences now colored by the aura of poetry, shaped or even distorted by musical penetration.
When one flips through a table of anthologized poems – an act that is not random – and stops before certain verses, this seems to be dictated by the thrill of a meeting as if a perhaps hovering uncertainty, a formless search, or a more obscure unconscious need suddenly rests in the form of a poem.
This Anthology is not the result of thorough literary editing that would seek the representative nodes of the vast material encompassed by Greek poetry.
Its starting point was the question of how we remember, why I remember, how I remember poems that are available and released self-evidently without the strain required when one focuses on more complete compositions.
What is memorized and becomes relevant at any moment.
Recall does not always mean reconciliation with the sudden invasion or penetration of verses into the everydayness of thought that can obsessively accompany it for a while.
It is like some well-known, inexhaustible movements of the hands without a fixed origin.
