Description

This volume is dedicated to the memory of Vangelis Athanasopoulos (1946-2011), who paved new paths in research with the systematic study of Modern Greek poetry and prose, engaged in translation and literary criticism, published poetry collections and prose works, and was an inspiring teacher for his students, with a continuous presence in the classrooms of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Athens, where he taught prose, poetry, and comparative literature for several decades.

The publication brings together the work of 52 members of the academic community, who often extend Athanasopoulos's reflections and open a fruitful dialogue with his rich and multifaceted work, covering an extensive range of Modern Greek philology, comparative philology, history, theory, and criticism of literature: studies that refer to his personality and work, intertextual approaches, articles that address issues of reception, investigations of the relationships between literature and other arts, and works that focus on theoretical issues and genre-related reflections.
